“Quarterway Cotton Growers is a cotton gin in Plainview, Texas, that gins cotton for 75 Texas High Plains cotton growers.” That is what we typically say when someone asks us what Quarterway is. While accurate, that statement does not capture the entirety of what we are.

So, what is Quarterway Cotton Growers?

First and foremost, Quarterway is a cotton gin. A cotton gin is the facility where cotton is taken from the field, cleaned, and the seed is removed from the cotton fibers. Then, the raw cotton is packaged into a bale and ready to enter textile production. The cotton gin is where cotton turns from an agricultural product to a textile product. Most importantly, the gin at Quarterway provides an essential service to local cotton farmers and countless jobs to the community.

Quarterway is a Community of Cotton Growers

Cotton gins are miniature community centers across the cotton belt. For Quarterway’s growers and many others in our rural community, our office is a place to grab a cup of coffee, take a break, and catch up with friends. As a result, it becomes an environment for farmers to connect with one another to discuss innovations in farming and offer support to each other.

Quarterway is Redefining the Role of the Farmer

Any cotton garment is a testament that the impact of a cotton grower goes far beyond the farm. Yet, cotton growers are rarely connected to those who come after them in the cotton supply chain. We work to engage with other members of the cotton supply chain so cotton growers can have a seat at tables they typically do not have a seat at. This is important because the cotton industry is stronger when both ends of the supply chain are connected.
